In 1984, he created a minor role in Jerry Schatzberg’s film “No Small Affair”, and was then cast as a main in the comedy film “A Fine Mess” by Blake Edwards. The actor portrayed the Prison Guard in the science fiction parody film “Spaceballs” (1986) written, produced and directed by Mel Brooks, but Ducommun then appeared in the blockbuster “Die Hard” (1988) starring Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman.
