Why Did Manfred Thierry Have A Plastic Surgery? – His Face Accident – Cardi B stunned at the opening of the Thierry Mugler: Couturissime exhibition this week as part of Paris Fashion Week 2021, wearing exquisite dresses designed by the man himself. She was pictured with Thierry Mugler as they celebrated his incredible work. However, some fans have noticed that Thierry Mugler’s face looks different. We break down the designer’s history of undergoing facial surgery after multiple accidents.
Has Thierry Mugler had work done to his face?
Yes, Thierry Mugler has had various reconstructive surgeries on his face after several accidents. He revealed in a chat with actor Tippi Hedren for Interview magazine in 2019 that he destroyed his nose crashing a jeep, had an accident at the gym which smashed his face, and also had a motorbike accident which did serious damage to his leg.
While Mugler notes that changing his face was initially only about reconstruction he then affirmed that this changed to being more about “fun and pleasing myself”. He also remarked that while he was having the anaesthesia to remove a piece of metal from his leg he decided to also undergo some facial surgery:
“I said, “Let’s find a way to make this fun!” I asked another surgeon if he could do some things to my chin, and then I was happy to get the bloody anesthesia. He actually took a piece of bone from my hip and put it on my chin, so I don’t have any plastic or silicone. It’s all bones. I wanted my face to represent progress, because after years of being a thin, charming dancer, I wanted to be a warrior. I’ve done so much in my life. I’ve fought so much. I’m a superhero, so it’s normal to have the face of one.”
