Ashley Edwards is a seasoned gardener, horticulturist, and certified horticultural therapist. He serves as the head gardener at Crocus, appears as an on-screen gardener on BBC One’s DIY SOS, presents on BBC Gardeners’ World, and contributes to the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine. With over 14 years of experience in gardening, he is a respected figure in the field.

Growing up in a Wandsworth council flat without a garden, Ashley was fortunate to have a generous neighbor who welcomed him to play in her garden. By age 5, he was already planting his first calendula seeds there. Occasionally, his family would also take him on visits to Kew Gardens.

At 16, Ashley began working at a local garden center and later received professional training at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, earning his Diploma in Horticulture in 2014. His career then took him to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, followed by a position as an Intern Garden Manager in Sicily.

Ashley held the role of Gardener in Charge at Strawberry Hill House & Garden in Twickenham, England. Previously, he was head gardener at the Tom Stuart-Smith-designed Horatio’s Garden for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in north London and worked on The Serge Hill Project for Gardening, Creativity and Health in Hertfordshire.

Ashley made his television debut on BBC Gardeners’ World in September 2023. By 2024, he took on the role of the new Garden Club Member on Alan Titchmarsh’s Gardening Club. He frequently appears on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time and is an active member of the London Garden Network.
