Jennifer Lee Jackson Biography – Jennifer Lee Jackson Wiki
Jennifer Lee Jackson, hailing from the United States, gained recognition as a professional chef and as a participant in the 23rd season of Bravo’s reality series, Top Chef. Her culinary journey began in her childhood in Georgia, where she was influenced by her grandmothers—Nanny in Georgia and Mozzy in West Virginia—who imparted their kitchen wisdom early on.
Though she initially pursued a degree in Political Science, Jennifer discovered her true calling while working in a restaurant during her college years. Guided by the chef there, she was encouraged to enroll in culinary school, marking a pivotal shift towards a career in cooking.
After earning her degree from the Culinary Institute of America, Jennifer honed her skills further with an externship at the prestigious Chez Panisse. She then relocated to New York City, where she refined her craft under the tutelage of Chef Gabrielle Hamilton at Prune.
Jennifer’s career took her from Colorado to Chicago before she finally put down roots in Detroit, MI, with her partner Justin Tootla. In 2017, the duo launched Voyager, a seafood-centric eatery that quickly earned accolades, featuring on esteemed lists of Best New Restaurants by Food & Wine, Esquire, Eater, and Thrillist.
Despite the challenges of the pandemic in 2020, Jennifer and Justin introduced Bunny Bunny, which received similar commendations. After serving as consultants and Co-Executive Chefs at Gilchrist Farm Winery, they have embarked on a journey of travel and consulting, in search of a new location for Bunny Bunny.

When asked about competing against her partner, Jennifer said they were supportive of each other, but once the challenges started, the familiarity with each other’s cooking became a challenge.
“It was a lot more emotional, like the back and forth of realizing, ‘oh, I’m actually competing against my partner,’” she said. “I don’t think I fully thought what competing against each other plus 13 other people would really mean until you’re in it. We’re like, ‘this is intense.’”
