Daniel Heffy, the Executive Chef at Liverpool’s NORD and a participant in the BBC’s Great British Menu 2026, has deep roots in his hometown. His culinary path began at age 16 when he worked aboard HMS Mounts Bay and HMS Iron Duke with the Sea Cadets.
After completing a formal culinary education, Daniel refined his craft under the guidance of Wirral’s Paul Askew, mastering the art of merging local ingredients with sophisticated culinary techniques.
Daniel played a pivotal role in launching several esteemed dining experiences in Liverpool, including collaborating with Paul Askew at The Art School Restaurant, creating the popular Secret Diners Club supper events, and managing the much-loved Buyers Club.
In 2017, Daniel relocated to Stockholm, joining the ranks at Frantzén, an illustrious three-Michelin-starred establishment. He later became Head Chef at the Nordic eatery Adam/Albin, where his leadership contributed to the restaurant earning a Michelin star.
Upon returning to Liverpool in 2023, Daniel opened NORD with GSG Hospitality, a prominent independent hospitality group in the North. NORD reflects Daniel’s diverse experiences, focusing on Northern heritage and hospitality, and emphasizes local, seasonal ingredients.
