Ahmed al Ahmed Biography – Ahmed al Ahmed Wikipedia

Ahmed al Ahmed, an Australian fruit vendor, is being hailed as a “hero” after a dramatic incident at Bondi Beach in Sydney. He was caught on camera disarming one of the attackers involved. The perpetrators have been identified by police as a father-son duo, 50-year-old Sajid Akram and 24-year-old Naveed Akram.

The video footage of Ahmed’s courageous action has been circulating extensively across social media platforms. It depicts one of the gunmen concealed behind a palm tree near a small footbridge, aiming and firing his weapon at an off-screen target, as reported by the BBC.

In the footage, Ahmed is initially hidden behind a parked vehicle. He suddenly charges at the gunman, successfully disarming him and forcing him to the ground. Ahmed briefly points the weapon at the assailant but then lowers it, raising a hand to signal to police that he is not a threat.

The same attacker is later observed retrieving another firearm on the bridge and continuing to fire. Another gunman also persists in shooting from the bridge, though their targets remain unknown. Ahmed, who suffered bullet wounds to his arm and hand, is currently recovering in the hospital after undergoing surgery, according to his family who spoke with 7News Australia.

In a separate conference, Minns praised the “extraordinary acts of personal courage and bravery” demonstrated by community members during the incident.

“I think it’s worth remembering that in all of this evil, in all of this sadness, there are still wonderful, brave Australians that are prepared to risk their lives to help a complete stranger.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said: “We have seen Australians today run towards danger in order to help others. These Australians are heroes, and their bravery has saved lives.”

Speaking at a White House Christmas reception, US President Donald Trump also praised Mr Ahmed, saying he had “great respect” for him. Trump said: “In Australia, as you’ve probably read, there’s been a very, very brave person who went and attacked frontally one of the shooters. [He] saved a lot of lives, a very brave person who is right now in the hospital, pretty seriously wounded. I have great respect for the man who did that.”
