Nana Araba Wilmot Biography – Nana Araba Wilmot Wiki

Nana Araba Wilmot, a dynamic Ghanaian-American chef, is making waves as a competitor on the 2026 season of Top Chef. She is the creative force behind Georgina’s Private Chef and Catering Co. and the visionary behind Love That I Knead, an innovative West African-inspired dinner series designed to evoke a sense of home through rich flavors and shared experiences.

Her culinary journey is a vibrant celebration of global cuisine, deeply rooted in tradition. Nana’s work is heavily influenced by the diverse food culture of the African Diaspora, especially her Ghanaian roots. By merging classic techniques with modern perspectives, she has crafted a unique culinary voice. Her passion for cooking was nurtured in her Cherry Hill childhood home, where the vibrant tastes of Ghana filled the air, courtesy of her parents and grandmother.

Growing up in Cherry Hill, Nana’s culinary adventures began at the tender age of seven, under the guidance of her grandmother. She completed her early education at local schools, eventually graduating from Cherry Hill High School East. Her formal culinary education culminated in 2013 when she earned degrees in culinary arts and culinary management from the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Following her education, she honed her skills in New York City, working alongside culinary giants such as José Garcés and at acclaimed establishments like Marie Aude-Rose and Daniel Rose’s Le Coucou, where she contributed to achieving a Michelin Star and a James Beard Award.

The pandemic brought Nana back to Cherry Hill, N.J., where she spent cherished time cooking with her mother and reconnecting with her heritage. This period inspired her to create the Love That I Knead Supper Club, a unique venture hosted in her backyard, focusing on intimate gatherings that celebrate culture, memory, and community as much as the culinary delights themselves.

Black Women in Food

In 2023, Nana was honored with the Culinarian Award for Black Women in Food, and her contributions extend to the Contemporary African Kitchen cookbook. She divides her time between bustling cities like New York and Philadelphia and Accra, Ghana, where she returns annually for pop-ups and to remain engaged with the evolving West African culinary scene. Nana’s work thrives at the confluence of food, culture, and education, using the dinner table as a platform for meaningful dialogue, remembrance, and connection.
