It’s another career win for Cynthia Bailey.
Following the Season 16 finale of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the talented Cynthia took to Instagram to announce her exciting new acting role. She eagerly shared an article revealing her starring role in Diamond, an intense coming-of-age sports drama penned by DeShon Hardy.
“Here we go,” she captioned the July 23 post.
Cynthia Bailey to star in sports drama alongside Vernon Davis
As reported by Deadline, Cynthia is set to portray the mother of Diamond McCarren, a young basketball phenomenon facing numerous challenges and family trauma. The lead character, played by Jemarcus Kilgore, will navigate life with his father, portrayed by former NFL star Vernon Davis, who is behind bars.
The narrative centers on Diamond’s struggle as he chases a Division I scholarship. His plans are thrown into chaos when his mother has a drug overdose, leaving him with the difficult choice of pursuing his sports aspirations or stepping up to care for his mother.

“This story really touched with me,” Cynthia told Deadline. “It showed how families can stay together through any and everything. I wanted the opportunity to play a meaningful role, and when I read this script, I knew this was it.”
The Reel 85 Productions film will start shooting this weekend in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Cynthia Bailey pivots to acting: “This is the next chapter”
Cynthia made her acting debut in the 1990 film Without You I’m Nothing, starring Sandra Bernhard. She went on to land minor roles in TV series, like The Cosby Show and New York Undercover, before joining RHOA in Season 3 (2010). Her return to the small screen eventually led to more acting jobs, including appearances in Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, Terror Lake Drive, Games People Play, and BMF.

The Alabama native spoke about her acting career in a 2021 interview with Page Six, just weeks after announcing she would not return as a full-time RHOA cast member.
“This was the intentional next step for me. This is the next chapter. And not only is it the next chapter, it’s the last chapter, OK?” she joked about her acting career. “You guys had Cynthia Bailey the model, you guys got to follow Cynthia Bailey the reality star. Now you guys are going to get to see Cynthia Bailey the actress. And what’s happening after that? Nothing. I’m a 55-year-old woman in full pre-menopause! This is it, OK?”
