Lisa Barlow is thrilled to have her oldest son, Jack Barlow, back home in Utah after he spent two years as a Mormon missionary in Colombia. Throughout his mission, Lisa shared updates on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and on social media, and now she couldn’t be happier to welcome him back.

Lisa posted on her Instagram Story earlier this week, showing that she and her husband, John Barlow, were on their way to the airport to greet Jack. In the car, Lisa shared, “Jack is currently on a flight back from Colombia, and we are beyond excited to pick him up,” with her younger son, Henry, riding in the backseat alongside a bouquet of balloons colored yellow, blue, and red, representing the Colombian flag.

“It’s been the fastest, longest two years like, all at the same time,” she noted.

When Jack’s plane landed, he was warmly welcomed by his friends and family at the airport. They wrapped a Colombian flag around him and handed him balloons. “Look who’s home!” Lisa joyfully announced, capturing the moment as Jack arrived.

Jack also posed alongside a group of friends, who made him a sign inspired by one of Lisa’s greetings from RHOSLC. “Welcome home Elder Baby Gorgeous,” the sign read.

Lisa took to Instagram on June 10, where she posted a series of photos from the family’s reunion with Jack upon his return.

“There is nothing better than having my family together,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “Welcome home [Jack].”

Lisa Barlow opens up about Jack’s hospitalization during his mission

Jack had briefly returned home to Utah in the midst of his mission in May 2024, after he was hospitalized in December 2023. The Vida Tequila founder took to X (formerly known as Twitter) at the time, where she revealed that her son was in the hospital. “I miss Jack every day — he has been in the hospital for 3 days and it’s killing me not being there,” she wrote.

Lisa took to Instagram upon his brief return, where she revealed why Jack had come home temporarily. “Love seeing my Jack so we could make sure the next 14 months in Colombia he would be completely well,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “I love seeing his maturity, hearing him speak Spanish, and his love of service and the people of Colombia.”

During his two-year-long mission, Jack was only able to talk on the phone with his parents once a week. During an episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City After Show, which aired in January of this year, Lisa gave more insight into his brief trip home and why Jack was so reluctant to be back. “He refused to come home,” she admitted.

“He had something else happen where we’re like, ‘You need to come home.’ And he’s like, ‘Well, I don’t want to leave my mission and not be able to come back.’ He wrote his mission president and got us all on a Zoom, and said ‘I won’t go home unless you put it in writing that I can come back. And you have to have whoever you need with the church on the Zoom so that everyone hears it, OK?’” she explained.

Once Jack returned home for three weeks and did everything that he needed to do, he made his way back to complete the rest of his mission, serving as an AP, or an Assistant to the President of his mission. “He loves it,” she continued.

“So, now that his health has been cleared, he flies all over Bogota on these tiny little planes. They fly from city to city and do zone conferences. They do education. And he still does service,” she added.
