Professional cyclists often lead extremely disciplined lives, and every champion usually has a strong support network that helps keep them grounded. For Jonas Vingegaard, who has won the Tour de France twice, this support comes from his wife, Trine Hansen, and their two young children.
While Vingegaard battles competitors like Tadej Pogačar on the road, his family is a crucial part of his achievements. Recently, they have been at the forefront of discussions regarding the balance between elite sports and family life.

As the 2025 Tour de France draws near, Trine’s remarks have sparked conversations about athlete welfare. She claimed that Visma’s strategy of focusing on multiple cyclists, such as Wout van Aert, detracts from Vingegaard’s opportunities for the general classification, especially when compared to UAE Team Emirates’ concentrated support for Pogačar.
Visma’s response came from their Head of Racing, Grischa Niermann, who downplayed the situation, claiming that Trine’s concerns were somewhat exaggerated and emphasizing their collaborative planning with the family. Vingegaard himself stayed diplomatic, telling reporters,
“I haven’t read the article… Naturally, it’s tough on family life, but I’m still riding.”
