After five years, the much-discussed $100 million deal between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Netflix is set to conclude. Reports suggest that the streaming giant won’t be renewing this contract when it expires this September, marking a significant change in the couple’s activities since they stepped back from their royal roles.

Their 2022 documentary series, “Harry & Meghan,” generated a lot of attention, but subsequent ventures like Meghan’s lifestyle program, “With Love, Meghan,” and their polo documentary series didn’t capture the same audience interest.

Industry insiders reveal that the decision to end the partnership was mutual, as Netflix pivots its approach from costly exclusive agreements to focusing more on individual projects.

Why Netflix Walked Away

What started as an exciting collaboration lost its appeal as viewer numbers dipped. “Harry & Meghan” attracted 28 million households right off the bat, but the polo series only managed to rake in around 500,000 views worldwide, and “With Love, Meghan” barely made it into Netflix’s top 300 in 2025. One source summed it up bluntly:

“Netflix got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair. They’re not unhappy—they got the initial hits.”

Even with the split, Season 2 of “With Love, Meghan” is still set to premiere this fall. However, insiders are saying Netflix has “zero interest” in any future collaborations, which leaves the couple to look towards other platforms like Paramount+.

What’s Next for Harry and Meghan?

As they close this chapter with Netflix, the Sussexes might be feeling some financial strain. Reports suggest the upkeep of their $14.65 million mansion in Montecito, along with staff expenses, heavily relies on such lucrative deals. Meanwhile, Meghan is putting more focus on her lifestyle brand, As Ever, while Harry could potentially return to projects that center around advocacy.

A Hollywood insider put it succinctly:

“There’s no animosity—things just ran their course. Meghan’s priority is her brand now, and Netflix won’t play second fiddle.”
