Jonathan Long, a 29-year-old senior financial services adviser at Aviva Financial Advisers, was the boyfriend of Raybe Oh Siew Huey.
He was known for his love for cars and speed, which tragically led to his untimely death in a horrific car accident in Tanjong Pagar, Singapore, on February 13, 2021.
On the fateful day, Jonathan drove a BMW M4, showing his newly bought car to several friends.
They were gathered to celebrate the first day of Chinese New Year that day but unfortunately died.
The car suddenly crashed into a shophouse at 37 Tanjong Pagar Road and caught fire at about 5.40 am.
All five men in the car, including Jonathan, died of severe burns, but Raybe was not in the car at the time of the crash.
However, she rushed to the burning wreckage in an attempt to rescue her boyfriend and friends.
In the process, she suffered severe burns to about 80 percent of her body. She has been fighting for her life since the accident.
Long and Raybe had recently applied for a Housing Board flat together.
In an interview, his father mentioned that he treats his girlfriend as his daughter and hopes for her safety.
He added that he has been in touch with Raybe’s mother to provide support.
The accident has prompted a thorough investigation by the Greer Police Department’s Traffic Team in collaboration with the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.

However, she has also had to deal with online abuse following news reports of the coroner’s inquiry into the crash.
