An alarming act of violence at a rap concert in Kansas City has sparked outrage and led to a police investigation. A teenager violently attacked a 66-year-old employee of the venue after being politely asked to move to the correct seating area.
The brutal act was caught on camera and has gained widespread attention online. The employee, identified as Thomas Schlange, was hospitalized with injuries such as a broken nose. The attacker, a minor, was arrested but later returned to his parents’ custody.
Details of the T-Mobile Center Incident
The unsettling event happened on September 21, 2025, during an NBA YoungBoy concert held at the T-Mobile Center. Thomas Schlange, who has served as an employee for nearly two decades, approached a young individual improperly seated after other concert-goers notified the staff.
The scenario escalated abruptly when the teenager chose violence over cooperation. The disturbing video captures the young individual violently slamming the elderly employee to the ground and viciously assaulting him as onlookers were left in shock. The attack stopped only when a spectator intervened, pulling the young attacker away.

Official Response and Condemnation of the Attack
In response to the violent episode, both the venue and local officials have issued strong condemnations. A representative for the T-Mobile Center denounced the violent act as “atrocious” and reiterated their zero-tolerance policy on violence, highlighting ongoing evaluations of their security measures.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas’s office denounced the attack, declaring that public events should be spaces of “joy and connection, not fear or harm.” The mayor’s office confirmed that the venue would cooperate with police and prosecutors to ensure the assailant faces criminal charges.
Aftermath for the Victim and Investigation
Thomas Schlange sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including a broken nose and facial bruising. There is concern about potential further damage to his eyesight, as he already had glaucoma before the attack. A GoFundMe campaign was created by his grandson to assist with medical costs.
The Kansas City Police Department confirmed that the investigation is active and ongoing. The suspect, who is under 16, was arrested at the scene but later released to his parents as prosecutors evaluate the charges to file.
Cancellation of Chicago Concert Following Incident
The repercussions of the Kansas City assault affected the rapper’s tour schedule. The United Center in Chicago canceled NBA YoungBoy’s concert that was scheduled for September 24, just three days after the incident.
The venue did not specify a reason for the cancellation, but it came amid the viral spread of the assault video and rising public safety concerns at concerts. The rapper’s “MASA Tour” continued with the next planned stop in Columbus, Ohio.
