Paris Saint-Germain are lining up a £75million bid for Marcus Rashford as they look to tempt Manchester United to part with the forward, new reports have claimed.

The Ligue 1 giants previously held an interest in Rashford but fell short in their advances in 2022 after he signed a new deal worth over £300,000-a-week.

With Kylian Mbappe expected to join Real Madrid at the end of the season, however, PSG have renewed their attempts to recruit a new striker and Rashford is a target.

Rashford is enduring a difficult season, having scored just seven goals in 34 appearances across all competitions and been disciplined by boss Erik ten Hag.

And the same outlet expects an opening offer worth £75m to be lodged with Rashford identified as an ideal replacement for the outgoing Mbappe.

It is said that United may be tempted to accept an offer in that region, but they value their academy graduate at closer to £100m and could therefore hold out for more.

United remain in financial disarray off the pitch despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ cash injection and must continue to adhere to strict Financial Fair Play regulations.

As such, should Rashford be offloaded, his home-grown player status would be recorded as pure profit under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

This could then be re-directed toward strengthening Ten Hag’s struggling squad.

Rashford emphasised his commitment to United in a recent interview with The Players’ Tribune but PSG are convinced they can lure him to Paris, The Mirror add.

His decision to snub big-name suitors two years ago saw him go on to hit 30 goals last season, a career best, and a bumper contract set to run until 2028.

But United legend Wayne Rooney questioned whether Rashford may need to leave in search of a new chapter – though he is hopeful he will become a ‘one club man’.

‘It can get lonely, I hope he’s not in that position,’ Rooney told TNT Sports last week. ‘You play for United and England, you will get scrutinised.

‘He is a Manchester lad and I really hope he gets back into form and has a long career here. Maybe he needs to move to another club.

‘I hope the introduction of INEOS can help him be a one club man.’
