A woman who, over a decade ago, attacked her sixth-grade classmate in an attempt to gain favor with a fictitious online figure known as “Slender Man” has reportedly fled a group home after removing her Department of Corrections tracking bracelet, according to U.S. authorities.

Morgan Geyser, now 23, was last seen in a residential area of Wisconsin around 8 p.m. on Saturday, with an adult companion, as confirmed by police reports.

“Her whereabouts are unknown as of Sunday morning,” Madison Police said in a statement.

Back in 2014, Geyser and her friend Anissa Weier, both aged 12 at the time, orchestrated a plan to lure their classmate into a park in Waukesha, Wisconsin. There, they stabbed her 19 times, seeking to please Slender Man, a haunting figure born from internet folklore.

The victim, Peyton Leutner, who was also 12 at the time, miraculously survived the attack. She managed to crawl out of the woods and was eventually found by a passing bicyclist who called for help.

Leutner previously recounted to ABC that she, Geyser, and Weier spent a considerable amount of time together. She noted that Geyser often spoke about Slender Man, a character that deeply unsettled her.

The stabbing incident occurred after Leutner attended a sleepover at Geyser’s home, planned to celebrate Geyser’s birthday.

At age 15, Geyser pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted first-degree murder in a deal with prosecutors to be placed in a mental institution instead of serving jail time.

In January, a judge ordered she could be released from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, where she spent nearly seven years, The Associated Press reported.

In August, a facility in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, declined to take her due to negative publicity they were receiving about the potential move, according to CNN affiliate WMTV, but Madison police confirmed with the news station Geyser is currently living at a group home in Madison, on the same street where she was last seen.
