In Texas, two men have been detained for supposedly transforming a home near San Antonio into a scene marred by gunfire — discharging 20 to 25 shots with “AK-47 style” firearms — in an organized attack that ended a 4-year-old girl’s life and injured her family, authorities report.
“Five family members suffered gunshot wounds, and tragically, MaryAnn was killed almost instantly when struck in the head,” stated Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar at a press briefing on Friday, where he revealed the arrest of one suspect tied to MaryAnn Marble’s 2024 murder.
“The front door was riddled with bullets, resembling Swiss cheese,” Salazar remarked to reporters, including those from local Fox affiliate KABB, and other media representatives.
Twenty-year-old Bryan Salazar was taken into custody on Friday facing charges of capital murder and other offenses related to the May 2024 incident in Windsor Hollow. Alongside him, 19-year-old Isaiah Perales, who was charged in January, were allegedly seen on surveillance video shooting several rounds from their potent, Draco-model firearms into MaryAnn’s residence.
“This is an unforgettable case,” Sheriff Salazar commented, characterizing MaryAnn’s death as a “premeditated act.” According to KABB, police suspect the attack was in retaliation for another shooting two weeks prior, where Bryan Salazar’s 20-year-old relative, Xavier Perez, was killed.
Bryan Salazar and Perales allegedly stole an Infiniti Q50 to use just days after Perez’s murder and drove to MaryAnn’s house in it after scoping the place out, cops say.
“They stole the car, they conducted surveillance, and then carried out the shooting,” Sheriff Salazar said.
Salazar has been booked on charges of capital murder, two counts of injury to a child, and eight counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon under Texas’ new “mass shooting” statute. Perales is facing the same charges.
MaryAnn’s parents and two of her siblings were shot by the pair. The girl’s mom took to Facebook after Salazar’s arrest and charges were announced Friday to celebrate.
