A man in business attire was waiting at a bus stop in Albany Creek in Queensland when police pounced.
A 184-centimetre man police described as Romanian in appearance identified himself as Paul Sorin Kimpian, 32.
But he could have multiple identities. Police believe he also goes by Jean Paul Fontaine.
In the United States, he is known as Roman Janecek and accused of financial fraud and stealing from vulnerable people using cloned welfare cards in California.
He was charged in 2023 and was on a $50,000 bail before he allegedly cut off his GPS ankle monitor and disappeared.
He then headed Down Under to Queensland and was believed to have been in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and potentially Cairns.
Kimpian was arrested and charged with fraud and stealing, forgery of a passport and possessing a fake passport.
His case was briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, where it was indicated he would be pleading guilty.
A sentencing date has been set for September.

Investigations are ongoing and police urge anyone with information about the man to come forward.
