Alabama Plumber Pleads Guilty in Murder for Hire Plot Against Wife, 6 Adult Children

An Alabama plumber has admitted to seven counts of murder for hire for attempting to contract a hitman to kill his wife and six adult children last year.

Mohammad A.H. Mohammed, 64, intended to hire someone to “take care of” his family in September 2024, according to the US Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama’s Office. However, instead of a hitman, he unwittingly solicited an undercover agent for the task.

According to CrimeOnline’s earlier reports, Mohammad and his wife were embroiled in protracted divorce proceedings, and since 2021, she and two of their children held protection orders against him. These orders followed the dismissal of domestic violence charges against Mohammad. His 55-year-old wife reported to police that her husband had threatened to “come after her.”

“Mohammad has hurt me and my kids and used weapons against us,’’ she wrote. “Mohammad said he wanted to shoot my daughter between the eyes.”

“He constantly threatens me and my children with violence,” she stated. “He has physically assaulted my kids, sending them to the emergency room. He threatened them with a gun and knife, and has fired guns at us.”

Following these incidents, Mohammad faced arrest for stalking after placing GPS tracking devices on vehicles owned by his wife and children. In 2023, local authorities were called to a vehicle arson involving a car linked to a friend of Mohammad’s wife; the following day, his son’s pickup truck was torched in the family’s driveway.

Nine months after that, suspicious fires burned another son’s SUV and three other vehicles.

In December 2023, as per charging documents, someone contacted the wife on Mohammad’s behalf seeking reconciliation. She declined, and 12 hours later, her daughter’s car was set ablaze.

Mohammad was then arrested for violating a protective order and the bond on the stalking charge was revoked. But he was again released in February and ordered to wear an ankle monitor.

Finally, in August, a cooperating witness spoke with federal agents, telling them that Mohammad had told him of his family troubles and saying he felt his pride and dignity had been destroyed. He told the witness he was willing to “die for self dignity” and “die for pride.”

Mohammad showed the cooperating witness and later the undercover agent photographs of the burned out vehicles, providing the agent with photos of the family members he wanted killed.

“You pick and choose who you gunna take out, and get paid,’’ Mohammad told him, the complaint says. “Start with one. Take your time. Second. Third. Fourth. Five. I don’t give (expletive). Just, start with one. What’s going to be to charge, start with one?”

Mohammad paid the agent a $550 down payment and promised $20,000 to kill his wife and $5,000 each for the six children.

He is now awaiting sentencing and faces up to 10 years in prison for each count.
