Police in Maryland are searching for a missing teen who hasn’t been seen in nearly two weeks.
Nineteen-year-old Dacara Thompson disappeared on August 22 after leaving her father, Daniel Thompson’s residence in Lanham to refuel her 2013 white Ford Edge, but she did not come back.
At 11:50 p.m., Daniel Thompson received a text from her saying, “I got gas & I’m out. I should be back soon. I love you too. Goodnight <3”.
“She just said I’m going out. I’ll be back,” he told WUSA9.
The following morning, she still hadn’t returned home.
“We attempted to reach her several times through calls and texts, but she didn’t answer, which is unusual because she always responds,” her mother, Carmen Thompson, explained.
Upon checking the Find My Phone app, Carmen found that her daughter’s location sharing was deactivated. The last recorded location was at the junction of Jasmine Terrace and Riggs Road in Hyattsville.
Dacara’s father said that cash, her purse and debit cards were found inside the vehicle. Her cellphone was missing and had been disabled.
A neighbor’s security footage showed someone that appeared to be Dacara exiting the SUV and walking toward Riggs Road at around 1:30 a.m.
“If she sees this, hopefully she will just come home,” Daniel said.
“Find somebody’s phone, I don’t know if she has access to her phone, just call 911.”
According to ABC 2 Baltimore, Dacara was last spotted in a dark jacket and denim jeans. She is also known to have tattoos on her left arm and her right side.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Prince George’s County Police Department.
