A woman in Pennsylvania is facing charges of attempted murder after allegedly striking her boyfriend with a car following an altercation at a Taco Bell, according to police reports.

Authorities in Upper Darby have issued a warrant for 23-year-old Destenee Green in connection with an incident that took place on New Year’s Eve, which resulted in her boyfriend sustaining several injuries.

In a press release issued on Friday, police stated, “The victim is fortunate to be alive,” highlighting the severity of the incident.

The confrontation reportedly began inside a car in the parking lot of a Taco Bell located on West Chester Pike. In an attempt to calm the situation, the boyfriend decided to exit the vehicle.

“He made the right decision by leaving the car as tempers were escalating,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt in an interview with WPVI, a local ABC affiliate. “He got out and walked away.”

However, as the boyfriend walked along the street, police allege that Green drove her car onto the sidewalk, going against traffic, and hit him from behind, as detailed in the police statement.

“The female fled the scene and is now wanted by police,” cops report.

Surveillance footage obtained by WPVI shows the boyfriend walking in front of a car shop when Green allegedly mows him down from behind. The shop owner’s 12-year-old son saw the alleged attack unfold.

“I just hear a crash and I look outside and he’s on the floor, the car is destroyed from the front end,” the boy told WPVI. “If we didn’t have this truck he would have been not alive.”

Local police noted how they’ve seen an uptick in domestic violence incidents in recent weeks, with Bernhardt calling the holidays “a tough time of year” for many couples.

“I ask everyone to take a deep breath,” Bernhardt said. “Stay calm, walk away.”

The police press release adds, “No one should live in a toxic or violent relationship. Help is available 24/7.”

Green was still wanted for attempted murder as of Sunday. Her car has reportedly been recovered and she’s been asked to turn herself in.
