An Indiana man faces several felonies after allegedly crashing into a woman’s car while she was stopped at an intersection, threatening to rape her, kill her baby, and then attempting to kidnap her.

The woman told police she fought with Jason M. Middleton, 45, after he pulled a gun on her before she was able to break away from him.

Middleton then re-entered his vehicle and fled the scene, but the woman managed to note his license plate number after he rear-ended her car, as reported by the Greenfield Reporter.

Police apprehended Middleton and charged him with attempted rape, attempted kidnapping with a deadly weapon, and criminal confinement while armed with a deadly weapon.

A probable cause affidavit said the victim told police a man, identified as Middleton, rammed the back end of her vehicle while she was stopped near an intersection. She said the two of them had a brief conversation about insurance before the man pulled a gun and ordered her into his vehicle, telling her he was going to rape her and shoot her baby, who was in her vehicle.

The two fought over the weapon as witnesses began to drive up to the scene, and Middleton fled.

One witness said he saw a gun in the man’s hand as he got back in his van and drove off.

The police report says that she called police and reported the crash immediately after then got out to talk with the man who hit her when he pulled the gun. The man reportedly told her to “shut the f*** up and he was going to make her get in the van.” She said he grabbed her neck and arms while she screamed and shoved his arms away.

She said she’d never seen the man before noticing him driving erratically shortly before he hit her.

She gave the officers the van’s license number, and they found him at an address in Fountaintown hiding in a storage container.

Middleton reportedly told police there was an accident, but that she hit him and that she pulled the gun on him, so he fled because he didn’t want to be shot. According to WXIN, he said it was “impossible” that a witness saw him with a gun.

Middleton had an initial court appearance on Monday and was ordered held on a $500,000 cash bond with a no contact order for the victim. HE is due back in court on May 21.
