This week, authorities in Tennessee detained a couple nearly a year after they were charged with child abuse, and almost two years following the initiation of a police investigation into the claims.
The whereabouts of 26-year-old Harry James Reed II and 22-year-old Alexis D. Austin eluded the Washington County Sheriff’s Office until an anonymous tip pointed to their location.
Sheriff Keith Sexton informed WCYB that in January, Reed and Austin faced charges of aggravated child abuse, child neglect, aggravated child endangerment, and child endangerment. These charges stemmed from an investigation by the sheriff’s department conducted the prior year.
Authorities said that an tip came in on the agency’s Tip 411 app, leading to their arrest at a home in Gray.
The Kingsport Times-News reported that Austin was issued a $50,000 bond, while Reed, who also faced charges for failing to appear and violating probation, received a $75,000 bond.
No other information about the case was made available.
