Authorities in New Jersey are investigating the case of a 34-year-old mother of two whose body was discovered in an Atlantic City apartment over the weekend.
Christina Burdette was pronounced dead on the scene Saturday morning, and the medical examiner has ruled her death a homicide, WPVI reported.
Though the official cause of death hasn’t been disclosed by the medical examiner, the victim’s sister, Nicole Burdette, mentioned that investigators indicated “she appeared to have been in a struggle.”
“She has bruises all over her body,” the sister said.
Christina’s head was wrapped in gauze, Nicole said.
Christina Burdette and her children, aged 3 and 6, were staying in a relative’s apartment on their father’s side. He passed away a few years back, as Nicole Burdette shared, reported by WPHL.
Details remain unclear about who informed the authorities of the body’s presence, whether the children were in the apartment during the discovery, or their current location.
Nicole expressed uncertainty to WPVI, stating, “We’re unsure of what’s happening. We don’t want to place blame without knowing the facts, but the situation is certainly suspicious.”
Burdette’s children are now without parents altogether, Burdette’s mother, Stephanie Abeulkabiir, said.
“Get justice for my daughter,” said Abeulkabiir. “She did not deserve to go out the way she did.”
