Audio Captures Final Moments of Vicky White’s Life as Police Close in – Crime Online

Newly obtained audio from a 911 call appears to contain the last words of ex-jailer Vicky White telling fellow fugitive Casey White they should run away from their vehicle amid a police chase, NewsNation reports.

“Airbags are going off! Let’s get out and run!” a woman’s voice says in the recording obtained by the news outlet as sirens screech in the background.

It is not clear why the fugitives had called 911.

Authorities on Monday tracked down the Alabama outlaws to a motel in Evansville, Indiana. The pair attempted to flee when they realized police had found them, which led to a chase and the couple crashing their car.

The 56-year-old woman shot herself following the rollover crash as police were closing in. She was hospitalized and died hours later.

Casey White, 38, was also treated for injuries at a hospital.

The pair had been on the run for 11 days since Vicky White, a former guard at the Lauderdale County Jail in Alabama, helped confessed killer Casey White escape on April 29.

Police dashcam video released Tuesday also reveals the intense police chase and aftermath. The video shows that when the vehicle rolled over, police could see that Vicky was holding a gun to her head.

“She still has the gun in her hands,” one officer says in the video.“Finger’s on the trigger.”

Police footage also shows officers extracting Vicky White from the car and providing first aid.

As for Casey White, Deputy Marshal Chad Hunt, the commander of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, said the alleged murdered surrendered quickly.

“His immediate words to our team was, ‘Please help my wife. She just shot herself in the head,’” Hunt said at a press conference, although there is no evidence Vickey White ever married Casey White.

The pair have the same last name but there is no known relation.

Evansville police found the couple by spotting their vehicle after receiving a tip they might be driving a Cadillac.

“After I got that information, I started checking around local hotels. Some of the places I thought they might be staying,” Detective Darren Richardson told WEVV-TV. “I wasn’t able to locate them at that time.”

It wasn’t until Richardson was driving home that he noticed a car matching a description from the tip.

“I happened to look over and I saw a Cadillac that matched the description of what the fugitives had,” Richardson told the television station.

He then alerted the U.S. Marshals Service, which asked him to grab the license plate number.

“So, I turned back around, swung through the parking lot, and got him the license plate for the vehicle,” Richardson told WEVV-TV.

“Law enforcement, it’s their job to go out and catch the bad guys, especially when you got two fugitives on the run for as long as they were.

“Especially to find out they were here in Evansville. And to bring closure to the family down in Alabama and just to know the two people we were looking for are now off the streets.”

The fugitives allegedly paid a homeless man to rent the hotel room for 14 days.

On Tuesday night, Casey White was extradited back to Alabama, where he has been charged with first-degree escape. He is already facing capital murder charges in connection with the death of Connie Ridgeway in 2015.
