Police have been searching a Sydney neighbourhood for the man who stabbed and escaped from two Australian Border Force (ABF) officials in western Sydney yesterday morning.
Acting on a tip-off, police today searched a home on Duncansby Crescent, St Andrews, in Sydney’s south-west in search of Tongan national Paea Teu.
He allegedly attacked two officers using a shiv made from nail clippers while being transported to Sydney Airport from Villawood Detention Centre.
Police said they established a perimeter before entering a home in the suburban street, but Teu was not found inside.
Police searched several other properties in the area to no avail.
9News does not believe that Teu is associated with the properties that were searched.
Teu escaped from a car yesterday morning after allegedly attacking the two Border Force contractors.
Both were taken to hospital and were in a stable condition last night.
Police said Teu has no other history of violence in Australia, but 9News understands he was being deported because he had overstayed his visa.
Police say anyone who sees Teu should not approach him.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
