Swords, axes seized as man charged with threatening politicians
A Queensland man will appear in court today after allegedly threatening multiple federal politicians on social media.

Last December, a series of threatening messages were posted on the social media platform X, spanning from the 10th to the 15th of the month. This sparked an investigation by the Australian Federal Police, who traced the account back to a 39-year-old man.

On December 19, law enforcement officers conducted a raid at a unit in Woodridge, a suburb in Logan, Queensland. During the search, they confiscated a collection of weapons, including swords and axes, as well as various electronic files.

The police assert that evidence of the social media threats was discovered on both the man’s mobile phone and desktop computer. Consequently, he faces charges for using a carriage service to menace or harass.

They seized swords, axes, and electronic files.

Police will allege the records of the social media threats were found on the man’s mobile phone and desktop computer.

He was charged with one count of using a carriage service to menace or harass.

If found guilty, he could face a maximum of five years in jail.

He was granted bail and is expected in court today.
