Sydney’s police force is currently on the hunt for an unidentified individual in connection with the defacement of a revered war memorial in the city.
Authorities have released surveillance footage featuring a man they wish to question regarding the vandalism of the Anzac War Memorial located in Hyde Park, which occurred last month.
The suspect reportedly entered the memorial around 2:40 PM on Thursday, September 25, and proceeded to pour a substance resembling oil onto the stones and a metal memorial plaque before making his exit.
Law enforcement responded by establishing a crime scene at the location.
Despite the dedicated efforts of caretakers to clean the affected areas, the memorial still bears the marks of the damage.
The individual in question is described as a Caucasian male, aged between 40 and 50, with a medium build, dark hair, and a beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing black shorts and a black t-shirt.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Sydney City Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
