Missing ute wanted as police investigate father-of-two's violent murder

Authorities are focusing on a missing grey ute, which they suspect might hold key clues in the case of a suspected homicide involving a father of two in Adelaide’s southern region.

Chris Robertson was discovered deceased at a workshop located in the industrial area of Lonsdale on Tuesday, September 30.

The 49-year-old man was last spotted alive a few days earlier while attending an AFL grand final party with friends on Saturday, September 27.

According to police reports, a Mitsubishi Triton utility bearing the registration XTF976 was observed at a location in Lonsdale on Sunday, September 28.

Investigators have interviewed the registered owner of the vehicle. Although this individual is not considered a suspect in the alleged murder, they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke from the South Australia Police stated that the ute has not been located since the discovery of Robertson’s body.

“We are seeking information from anyone who knows who may have been using the vehicle at the time of Chris’ death and the current location of this vehicle,” he said.

“We believe it is likely the vehicle was used to transport Chris to 55 O’Sullivan’s Beach Road at Lonsdale on the morning of Sunday, September 28.

“Locating the vehicle is crucial to the investigation as it could provide valuable forensic evidence that will assist the investigation.”

Police said a post-mortem examination revealed Robertson died as a result of injuries received after being severely assaulted.

“As a result of investigations since Chris was found and information received via Crime Stoppers we have spoken to a number of witnesses and this has helped us piece together his movements between September 27 and September 30,” he said.

”We are confident there will be a resolution in this investigation.

“I would urge anyone in a position to assist us to do so.”
