Developing: Georgia Teen Charged with First-Degree Murder Nearly 5 Months After Mother and Stepfather’s Deaths

A Georgia teen accused of killing her mother and stepfather was denied bond Tuesday morning.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, a Carroll County judge denied bond for 17-year-old Sarah Grace Patrick, following an emotional two-hour hearing.

Patrick, who is the daughter of 41-year-old Kristen Brock and the stepdaughter of 45-year-old James Brock, is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reported that Patrick handed herself over to authorities at the county jail in July, several months after she allegedly called 911 to report the homicides.

During the bond hearing Tuesday, loved ones described Patrick as a hardworking, “church-going young woman” who doesn’t have a criminal history.

Prosecutors argued that Patrick presents a flight risk, especially given the manner in which her younger sister discovered the victims’ bodies. They expressed concern that Patrick might try to intimidate her sister, who is a crucial witness in the ongoing investigation.

According to a previous report by CrimeOnline, Patrick contacted emergency services on February 20 after her 6-year-old sister found the couple fatally shot in their home on Tyus Carrollton Road’s 1500 block.

Other family members in the courtroom were against getting bond, including James Brock’s son and his sister, Kim Bowling.

“If the defendant can kill her own parents in such a violent manner, I fear for my own safety and the safety of my family and friends,” Bowling said.

The judge agreed with the prosecution.

Judge Jeffrey Hightower emphasized, “This is not courtroom drama for entertainment; we are here to uphold the law diligently, and I will ensure that is done to the utmost of my capability.”

Meanwhile, according to DailyMail, Patrick’s father, DJ, has claimed that he believes she did not carry out the murders.

His girlfriend, Kelly, told the court that they never had any discipline problems with the defendant.

Hightower set a trial date for January 5, 2026, should a grand jury indict her. An arraignment has been scheduled for September.

A motive for the killings is currently unknown. Check back for updates.
