Indicted for the first-degree murder of his wife, Suzanne, Barry Morphew has been held in jail with a three million dollar cash-only bond.
Judge Amanda Hopkins denied Morphew’s request to reduce his bond to $500,000 in cash. However, she adjusted the bond terms to permit Morphew to use a surety, a bail bonds company, which requires him to pay only 10 to 15 percent of the $3 million total.
With the help of friends and supporters, the funds were secured, and bail bondsman Richard Jordan of Denver’s A-1 Bail Bonds facilitated Morphew’s release as he awaits his murder trial.
Under his bond conditions, Morphew must wear a GPS monitor, remain within Colorado, and surrender his passport. He is confined to house arrest, allowed to leave only for medical emergencies or legal appointments, and is prohibited from consuming alcohol or controlled substances.
A protective order restricts him from contacting witnesses or the victim’s family, except for his daughters. One daughter was with the bail bondsman when Morphew was released. He is also forbidden from possessing firearms or dangerous weapons and must use his legal name exclusively.
