Authorities are on the lookout for seven individuals after a group was captured on CCTV breaking a door and making off with two BMWs during a forceful home invasion in Logan, just south of Brisbane.
The perpetrators scaled the high fence of a Rochedale South residence around 1:30 a.m. today, taking their time to survey the property.
Investigators are considering the possibility that this group may also be responsible for five additional home invasions that occurred overnight, involving the theft of vehicles and other valuables.
“Everything was secured—gates, alarms, we had cameras,” the homeowner explained. “They checked all the doors and windows on the ground floor. The only entry point was through smashing the door.”
Armed with a rock and metal pole, the intruders did just that.
While one intruder was frightened away by an alarm, the remaining members of the group were met by one of the homeowners inside.
“There’s so much damage inside, they’ve thrown rocks through the window to get through, it smashed our stone benchtop, the floor’s all scratched from the volume of glass,” the victim said.
The group grabbed keys and headed for the garage, stealing the family’s two BMWs.
“They hit the pylon of the side of the house when they drove forward, they threw a steel pole at my hubby when he confronted them in the garage,” the homeowner said.
Both of the vehicles have been found, but the offenders remain on the run.
Police say they are hunting at least seven people.
