Woman raped by son of high-profile couple speaks out

A brave woman, who endured a harrowing ordeal at the hands of the son of a prominent Victorian couple, has chosen to break her silence. Her decision to speak out is driven by a powerful desire to inspire and empower other women who are also navigating their own paths to justice after similarly traumatic experiences.

The assault took place at the man’s Melbourne residence during the early hours of January 14, 2024. Despite his initial denial of the act, claiming he did not digitally rape his friend’s girlfriend, the reality of his actions has now been confirmed in a court of law.

The victim described the legal system as one that can feel “impossible”, but said “the empowerment I feel today has made it all worth it”. (Nine)

Today, with the perpetrator serving his sentence, the survivor shared her thoughts and feelings publicly, expressing a palpable sense of relief following the jury’s unanimous guilty verdict. It marks the end of a long and arduous journey through the legal system, one that demanded immense courage and resilience.

“These past two years have been filled with tears, fear, and some of the most challenging decisions of my life,” she revealed in her statement. Her words resonate with the weight of her experience and the profound impact it has had on her life. However, she also conveys a sense of triumph, saying, “I finally got the outcome, the verdict, I’ve been praying months on end for.”

“Two years filled with tears, fear and some of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” she said.

“I finally got the outcome, the verdict, I’ve been praying months on end for.

“A jury heard me and believed me.”

The man was convicted of two counts of rape following a 10-day trial.

He sexually assaulted the victim twice in a dark room whilst pretending to be a friend who the victim was in a relationship with.

With the man now behind bars, the woman released a statement today sharing her relief that the 12 jurors returned with a guilty verdict. (Nine)

The man then doctored an Uber receipt to cover his tracks.

The victim described the legal system as one that can feel “impossible”, but said “the empowerment I feel today has made it all worth it”.

The maximum penalty for one count of rape is 25 years behind bars.

The case will return to court for a plea hearing next week before the judge hands down his sentence.

The woman said she was speaking out in the hope she could empower others who had suffered from sexual abuse.

“If you’re fighting for justice, or trying to find the courage to speak up, I’m standing with you,” she said.

“Don’t underestimate your strength.”
