An active shooter has been reported at the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.
KNWA reported that a text alert was issued by the school at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The message cautioned individuals to avoid the area surrounding the David W. Mullins Library.
The Fayetteville Police Department stated that officers are in the process of securing the building. Meanwhile, student Brock Boddie informed the outlet that he heard screams while on the library’s third floor.
“RazALERT Emergency Notification: Avoid the area of Mullins Library due to an active shooter reported. Avoid. Deny. Defend,” the school posted on X.
So far, it’s unclear whether anyone has been shot or injured.
A law student at the school sent the Arkansas Times a photo from inside a classroom, where students blocked the door with furniture.
