Shortly after 11:40 p.m., law enforcement responded to a disturbance at a residence on Marsden Street in St Marys.
According to reports, a group of men had broken into the house, discharging a firearm and threatening the people inside.
Fortunately, none of the residents suffered any injuries during the incident.
The intruders managed to escape before the police arrived, but officers soon spotted a vehicle on Saddington Street. Not long after, the car crashed into a fence on the same street.
After the crash, the individuals inside the vehicle fled the scene. Upon inspecting the abandoned car, police discovered ammunition.
Subsequently, authorities proceeded to a nearby apartment complex, where they apprehended a 45-year-old man in connection with the incident.
He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital under police guard, with what police believe are injuries sustained during the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
