GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three individuals from Gainesville are facing federal charges following indictments issued by the Northern District of Florida.

These indictments were officially recorded in the Gainesville division:

  • Tyrese Da’jon Jones, 26, of Gainesville, was indicted for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
  • Patrick Shane Johnson, 50, of Gainesville, was indicted for bank burglary and bank larceny.
  • Stephen Lamar Jones, 42, of Gainesville, was indicted for a possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Tyrese Jones

Jones was taken into custody after allegedly keeping a woman captive at gunpoint for several hours. He has been detained at the Alachua County Jail since his apprehension on July 3, 2025.

Patrick Johnson

Johnson was arrested after allegedly robbing a bank in a hospital gown and has been in the Alachua County Jail since his arrest on August 27, 2025.

Stephen Jones

Jones was arrested with trafficking amounts of narcotics after a deputy detained him for being in a park after hours and has been in the Alachua County Jail since his arrest on July 20, 2025.

Law enforcement agencies conducting the investigations included the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations; the Federal Bureau of Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; with assistance from Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

An indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has committed a violation of federal criminal law and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
