A court session originally scheduled for Tuesday was delayed as Nick Reiner, accused of the murder of Rob and Michelle Reiner, has not received medical clearance.
Alan Jackson, Nick Reiner’s attorney, informed The New York Times that his client could not be transferred from jail to the Los Angeles County Courthouse, although he did not specify the reasons behind the lack of clearance.
Nick Reiner, aged 32, continues to be held in custody, with the case set to be handed over to prosecutors on Tuesday, according to police reports. He faces charges in the deaths of Rob Reiner, 78, and Michelle Reiner, 68, who were discovered with stab wounds at their Brentwood residence on Sunday.
A daughter of the victims reportedly found their bodies, according to sources.
Family friends shared with The Los Angeles Times that Nick Reiner had been staying in a guesthouse on his parents’ property. They noted that Michelle Reiner had become increasingly worried about her son’s mental health in the weeks before the tragic events.
It was also reported that just hours prior to the incident, Nick Reiner was involved in a dispute with his parents during a Christmas gathering hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman and Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell are expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday regarding the ongoing investigation.
