On Christmas Eve in Illinois, a hotel guest allegedly attempted to murder a man he had been celebrating with earlier by viciously stabbing him multiple times as he slept on an inflatable bed, prosecutors report.
Uberclein Vazquez Villareal, aged 40, faces serious charges of armed violence and aggravated battery. The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office disclosed that the attack left the victim with several stab wounds and necessitated hospitalization.
According to a press release from the state’s attorney’s office on Saturday, the victim and another man were enjoying Christmas Eve together in a hotel room. However, things turned violent when Vazquez Villareal allegedly began disturbing the victim as he slept. The third individual in the room stepped out to take a phone call, only to return to a horrific scene that compelled him to call 911, as per the prosecutors.
“Upon their arrival, officers encountered an individual hiding behind the hotel front desk, who informed them of a stabbing incident,” the state’s attorney’s office stated. “The officers then proceeded to Room 345, where they found Vazquez Villareal standing in the hallway, his hands stained with blood.”
Vazquez Villareal was taken into custody, and officers entered the room to discover the victim lying on an inflatable bed, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper chest and torso, according to prosecutors. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
During their investigation, authorities were informed that Vazquez Villareal allegedly harassed the victim before launching a frenzied attack with a 4.5-inch knife.
“The type of violence alleged in this case is shocking and will not be tolerated in DuPage County,” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin in a statement.
Vazquez Villareal is being held without bond and his next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026, according to the state’s attorney’s office. The health status of his alleged victim is currently unknown.
