A California man has been apprehended in connection with the 2001 murder of a woman from Victorville, who vanished from her workplace at a Mervyn’s department store and was discovered deceased two days later.
Raymond Gonzales, 51, faces charges for the murder of Suzanne Sites-Fenton, as announced by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The tragic incident occurred on April 14, 2001, according to official reports.
Suzanne Sites-Fenton was reported missing by her husband on April 14, 2001, when she did not return home following her shift. Her vehicle was located the next day, abandoned and showing signs of a struggle, as revealed by the sheriff’s department.
On April 16, Sites-Fenton’s body was discovered in a remote area of Hesperia. An autopsy confirmed she had been shot, and authorities stated she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted before her death.
It was established by investigators that she had taken a break from her job, walked into the parking lot from the store, and never made it back inside.
The authorities have not disclosed the evidence that led them to Gonzales or if there was any prior acquaintance between him and Sites-Fenton before the heinous crime was committed.
Gonzales was arrested on Thursday and is beng held at the High Desert Detention Center without bond.
He is due in court on January 20, the Victorville Daily Press reported.
