A Colorado teen is facing charges after police say he sexually assaulted a young child at an Englewood water park.
An incident took place at Pirates Cove Water Park on July 8, as detailed in a press release from the Englewood Police Department. The suspect, 18-year-old Trenton Moskovita, is facing charges that include suspected sexual assault of a child and kidnapping.
Police arrested Moskovita at the park after reports that he led a 5-year-old girl into a family changing room, where he sexually assaulted her.
According to CBS News, Moskovita is accused of silencing the child by covering her mouth when she attempted to scream. The victim managed to flee the changing room and informed her parents about the assault, as stated by the police.
A park employee told police he saw the child “visibly upset” and “crying so hard [she] coudn’t speak.”
Upon the police arresting Moskovita, he reportedly resisted by trying to pull away and claimed that the officers had mistaken him for someone else. He allegedly stated that he was at the park with his triplet siblings.
Police said security footage, however, showed the suspect walking to the changing room with the child, and staying there for nine minutes.
Moskovita was booked into the Arapahoe County Jail and given a $200,000 cash bond. A court hearing has been scheduled for July 11.
