Illinois Police Chief’s Girlfriend Learns Fate After Poisoning Him with Eyedrops Until His Death

Initially, the signs seemed merely like the inevitable toll of aging on former police chief Rick Young: episodes of confusion, persistent fatigue, and a racing heartbeat.

However, the reality was far more sinister. Unbeknownst to anyone, a person he had trusted for many years was meticulously orchestrating his demise.

This chilling narrative unfolds in the latest episode of “Pathology with Dr. Priya,” part of the engaging “Zone 7” series. Sheryl McCollum and Dr. Priya Banerjee delve into the unsettling case of Marcy Oglesby. Over several months, Oglesby ingeniously laced Young’s food and beverages with over-the-counter eye drops.

After Young’s body was eventually discovered in a storage unit, toxicology tests revealed fatal amounts of tetrahydrozoline, a chemical commonly found in eye drops.

In the podcast, Dr. Priya provides insight into how tetrahydrozoline can devastate the cardiovascular system. She also highlights the challenges in detecting such poisonings, explaining that without specific tests, they often remain hidden until it is tragically too late.
