Staff report from Alachua County Sheriff’s Office social media posts
HAWTHORNE, Fla. – The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) responded to a series of stabbings that left three individuals severely injured on Saturday night, June 28. These incidents took place at multiple locations, coinciding with a separate block party that caused Holden Park Road to become obstructed. This weekend is marked by the annual Hawthorne Homecoming event, a community family reunion that draws people to Hawthorne yearly.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., ASO issued a “Public Safety Notice – Unlawful Assembly” on Facebook, delivering an urgent warning to cease blocking Holden Park Road, situated east of U.S. Hwy 301. The notice highlighted that the party was disrupting both traffic and emergency services. It encouraged “all involved individuals to disperse peacefully and immediately.”
At about midnight, ASO posted that all roadways had been cleared and returned to normal operation.
By 11 p.m., another post from ASO mentioned deputies were present in the 5800 block of SE 223rd Street, responding to a stabbing incident involving three victims; all three were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The post said the investigation involved multiple locations; although these locations were not provided by ASO, social media posts by Hawthorne residents mentioned a law enforcement response at a home, at CVS, and at Love’s.
