Nikki Saelee-McCain, 39, disappeared in May 2024 after informing her family via text message that she was on her way home. Unfortunately, she never made it back and has not communicated with anyone since that day. Her husband, Tyler McCain, has been taken into custody and is suspected of being involved in her murder.
One week after she went missing, Nikki’s Chevy Avalanche was found near the border of Shasta and Tehama County. The truck had its bed cover opened and emitted a strong smell of decomposition. Further examination of the vehicle revealed more crucial evidence, strongly suggesting that Tyler McCain is the main contributor of the DNA found on the items.
McCain previously faced felony domestic violence charges, but the case was dismissed when Nikki disappeared because she couldn’t testify.
Through the evidence collected, insights gained from interviews, and the fact that no family member has had contact with Nikki since her disappearance, detectives have concluded that Nikki is a homicide victim.
Officers have also determined that Nikki’s husband, Tyler Scott McCain, plays a crucial role in her disappearance and presumed death. This led the detectives to secure a murder arrest warrant for McCain.
McCain was booked into Shasta County Jail, and prosecutors allege he killed Nikki to prevent her from testifying in the domestic violence case.
