Inset: Anaya Durandisse Williams (PCSO). Background: The area in Fort Meade, Florida, where Williams is accused of attempting to kill a woman over a disagreement about bed linens (Google Maps).
A woman aged 26 in Florida was apprehended after allegedly using a bottle to attack another woman’s head and subsequently stabbing her. The incident reportedly occurred because Williams was “extremely upset” regarding the “type of bed sheets and blankets” the victim had arranged for her in her bedroom.
Authorities announced the arrest of Anaya Durandisse Williams on Sunday. She faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
According to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, officers from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrived around 5:15 p.m. on Sunday in response to a call about an active battery at a residence in the 800 block of Morrison Avenue in Fort Meade, located about 60 miles southeast of Tampa.
Once onsite, first responders spoke with the victim, who recounted that Williams, a resident at the victim’s home, “became extremely upset over the type of bed sheets and blankets provided for her in her room.”
Williams was allegedly quick to turn her anger into a physical confrontation.
The affidavit notes that as the victim was leaving Williams’ room, Williams “grabbed the victim’s hair and struck her head multiple times with her hand.” Furthermore, Williams retrieved an empty olive oil glass bottle from her room, used it to hit the victim’s head, causing it to break. During the altercation, Williams continually pulled the victim’s hair, dislodging some braids entirely. While grappling with the victim, Williams also kicked and bit her in the leg. The victim retaliated by biting one of Williams’ fingers to halt the assault.
The victim was able to break free of Williams and began calling 911. That is when Williams allegedly went into the kitchen and grabbed a large knife. As allegedly shown by surveillance footage from inside the home, the knife-wielding Williams “lunges” at the victim, stabbing her in the “back/side area,” per the affidavit.
Police found Williams in the bathroom with the knife and took her into custody. During an interview with detectives, Williams allegedly admitted that she hit the victim in the head with a bottle, then “grabbed her by the neck and hair, and bit her on the leg.”
“[Williams] said she then hit [the victim] with the knife as [the victim] was turning away and on the phone with the cops,” police wrote. “[Williams] said she was in the heat of the moment.”
Authorities said the victim had visible injuries, including a swollen left eye and “a small laceration on her back/side area.”
Additionally, the victim told deputies that “she was scared” when she saw Williams with the knife and that Williams’ actions “were against her will.”
Williams is currently scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial detention hearing on Aug. 4. Her arraignment is calendared for Sept. 2.
