Doctor allegedly raped patients, used corpse as puppet

Christopher Davis (Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General).

A doctor in Pennsylvania has allegedly spent years exploiting vulnerable women, including addicts under his care. There are accusations of disturbing actions, such as a bedside puppet show with a woman’s body shortly after he declared her deceased, during which he moved her jaw and spoke to nurses, saying, “Hi there, how are you?”

Christopher Davis, 63, from York, was recently taken into custody for allegedly misusing his role as an addiction treatment specialist to entice and pressure women into sexual activities, as reported by Pennsylvania’s Office of Attorney General.

A female patient testified to a grand jury last month, claiming that Davis kissed her and forced his tongue into her mouth during a 2023 appointment, followed by a chilling whisper in her ear, according to the York Dispatch, which referenced Davis’ indictment.

“The broken ones are the easiest,” he allegedly said.

The Pennsylvania AG’s office has charged the disgraced physician with 92 criminal counts for allegedly tormenting patients from 2021 to 2024. His charges include rape by threat of force, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, sexual extortion, illegal use of a communications device, illegal administration of a controlled substance and furnishing false or fraudulent information.

A license suspension for Davis from 2002, which was obtained by the Dispatch and posted online Tuesday, says he underwent substance abuse treatment in the early 2000s and pleaded guilty to stealing the painkiller Nubain. The corpse puppet incident happened while he was the medical director at Manor Care on Dec. 3, 2000, according to state officials.

“[Davis] checked the Patient’s heart and lungs and pronounced her deceased,” the Pennsylvania Department of State reported. “[Davis] informed the Nurses that he had been a ventriloquist. [Davis] then proceeded to place the deceased Patient’s body in a seated position, put his hand on her bottom jaw, and, while manipulating the Patient’s jaw up and down to create the affectation that the deceased Patient was talking, [Davis] said, ‘Hi there, how are you?’ or words to that effect.”

For the recent allegations, authorities say several women reported having sex with Davis and that he “would withhold, or threaten to withhold, treatment benefits from patients who refused his sexual advances, while conversely, prescribing contraindicated addictive medications to patients who acquiesced to his sexual demands,” according to his grand jury indictment. The charges stem from an investigation launched in 2024 while he was working as the medical director of Pyramid Healthcare in Springettsbury Township.
