Authorities in Ohio are intensifying their search for an elderly man who has been missing since the end of last month.
According to WTVG, Dr. Cletus Iwuagwu, 71, was last seen by family members at his office on November 24. Although his daughter received location updates through his phone, police were unable to locate him at any of those positions.
Dr. Iwuagwu, a specialist in geriatric medicine, had been discharged from the hospital shortly before he went missing, WTOL reports. While his phone remains unlocated, police are concentrating their search efforts in Holland and Springfield Townships, as the device last pinged off a cell tower in that vicinity.
In an effort to uncover any clues, authorities deployed an underwater drone and sonar equipment to explore a lake near Dr. Iwuagwu’s residence. This technology initially picked up on a suspicious object, which was later identified as a lawn chair.
Lieutenant John Leach of the Lucas County Police noted that a home security camera recorded Dr. Iwuagwu standing on his porch around 2 a.m. He appeared to be wearing a hoodie, though the early morning light made it difficult to determine its color.
WTOL also indicates there is no evidence suggesting Dr. Iwuagwu left the area, and investigators are pursuing leads that he may have been seen walking nearby. His vehicle was found at home, and there was no note left behind, further deepening the mystery surrounding his disappearance.
Iwuagwu was described as standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighing about 180 pounds. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts should call the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office at 419-255-8443.
