A driver is on the run and a woman is in critical condition after a multi-car crash in Melbourne’s north overnight.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Gaffney and Lendells streets about 7.15pm after three cars collided in Pascoe Vale.
Police allege a Ford Falcon was speeding on Gaffney Street when it crashed into a BMW 320Ci and Toyota Corolla.
The 66-year-old driver of the BMW was seriously injured and taken to hospital in a critical condition.
“The other car is being driven at high speed recklessly, and it’s put not only her life in jeopardy, but it’s put other people in danger as well,” Victoria Police Detective Acting Sergeant Leigh Miller said.
The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
The driver of the Ford Falcon allegedly fled the scene with investigators urging them driver to come forward.
Police said the number plates from the Ford were found dumped in a nearby stormwater drain.
The investigation is ongoing.
