A man dressed in high-visibility attire was observed exiting a vehicle, followed closely by another individual.
Shortly afterward, the two were seen escorting an elderly gentleman across a landing as the car maneuvered into position.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing Baghsarian’s desperate screams as he was forced into the vehicle, accompanied by the sound of shattering glass.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, suspecting the kidnapping might be a result of mistaken identity.
During a press briefing, a police officer stated, “The individuals holding him have targeted the wrong person.”
Neighbors describe Baghsarian as a widower who has been living alone for the past four years.
“We fear for the safety of the hostage and we think he may have been harmed,” Detective acting Superintendent Andrew Marks said.
The Toyota used in the kidnapping was later found burned out in the nearby suburb of North Turramurra.
Police urge anyone who has information or witnessed anything out of the ordinary to contact police immediately.
