Former Fire Chief, Wife Face Charges of Inappropriate Contact With 14-Year-old Boy

Authorities have issued arrest warrants for a former fire chief from Pennsylvania and his wife, accusing them of inappropriate interactions with a 14-year-old junior firefighter from their department.

According to WPXI, Nathan Turner, who once led the Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire Department, and his wife, Stephanie Turner, who established the department’s volunteer auxiliary, are facing multiple charges. These include corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent exposure, harassment, open lewdness, and criminal conspiracy.

The case took a turn when Sewickley Borough Police Department confiscated Nathan Turner’s phone during an investigation related to theft at the Sewickley Water Authority, where he was previously employed. While examining the device, investigators uncovered a series of text messages between Nathan and Stephanie Turner discussing “illegal sexual activities” involving the teenage boy.

One text message from Nathan Turner to his wife reportedly stated, “You literally took your pants off in front of him,” to which Stephanie Turner replied, “Yes, I did.”

The complaint details additional explicit messages exchanged between the couple.

The phone was seized in October, but the incriminating text messages were exchanged during the summer. However, the alleged activities occurred between winter 2023 and summer 2024, as reported by WTAE.

Investigators spoke with the boy, who told them that the Turners had been like parents to him, except that Nathan made comments about his appearance and Stephanie told him she wanted to have sex with him when he turned 18. That led to her undressing and exposing herself to him.

The Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire Department said that Nathan Turner resigned from the department in August and that he “and his wife are no longer associated with the dapartment and no longer participate in any capacity with the department.”

“The department further acknowledges that the allegations against Mr. and Mrs. Turner are concerning and serious in nature,” the department said. “They do not reflect the values and standards of the department, the fire service and the community.”

Investigators provided no further information about the theft investigation that led to the discovery of the texts. It’s not clear if Stephanie Turner still works for the water authority in Sewickley Borough.
