Emergency crews swiftly responded to a fire incident on Hazel Road in Salisbury East around 2:30 in the afternoon. Firefighters were able to quickly put out a small blaze that had inflicted minor damage to the home’s kitchen area.
During the emergency, three residents were evacuated from the premises. Among them was a 53-year-old man who sustained non-life-threatening burns to his legs and was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical attention.
In a surprising twist, the police, while investigating the origins of the fire, reportedly uncovered evidence suggesting illegal drug manufacturing. Chemicals and equipment believed to be used for this purpose were discovered within the kitchen.
As a result of these findings, law enforcement officials arrested a 25-year-old man, a 62-year-old woman, and the injured 53-year-old man. They are all expected to face charges related to drug manufacturing.
Moreover, the woman could face additional legal troubles. During a search, officers allegedly found approximately 30 grams of methamphetamine in her possession, which may lead to further charges of drug trafficking.
The woman is expected to be further charged with trafficking after police searched her and allegedly found about 30 grams of meth.
