FBI to Re-Examine Kyron Horman’s Unsolved Disappearance

Earlier this month, Oregon police said they are revisiting the unsolved 2010 disappearance of a 7-year-old boy.

Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline Elementary School in Portland following a morning science fair. According to KOIN, the last sighting was with his stepmother, who claimed to have dropped him off early for the event and denied any involvement in his disappearance.

As reported by KPTV, Horman did not show up for class and was marked absent. His family realized something was wrong when he failed to return home on the school bus that afternoon.

OregonLive noted that a month following Horman’s disappearance, his father filed for divorce. Despite the investigation into Horman’s stepmother, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Multnomah County police said its department and Gresham police have been digitizing case files over the past year. Police said the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit will review the documents and evidence once that process is complete, according to KOIN.

“As we approach the 15th anniversary of Kyron Horman’s disappearance, I want to reaffirm my continued commitment to this case,” Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez said, per KOIN. “My office has begun a thorough and methodical review of the case with fresh eyes, and we look forward to receiving further analysis from the Sheriff’s Office and the FBI. Our focus remains where it has always belonged — on Kyron and his family.”
